Basketball Game Preview: Corcoran Panthers vs. Strathmore Spartans

Corcoran and Strathmore are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but not for long. The Corcoran Panthers will challenge the Strathmore Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Corcoran knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten matches -- so hopefully Strathmore likes a good challenge.

Corcoran fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Bernstein on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 65-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dragons. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (55), the Panthers still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Strathmore). They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging an 82-36 win over Woodlake. The victory was nothing new for the Spartans as they're now sitting on six straight.

Strathmore pushed their record up to 12-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Corcoran, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-6.

Corcoran strolled past Strathmore when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a score of 73-54. Will Corcoran repeat their success, or does Strathmore have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
