Football Game Preview: Lakewood Lancers vs. Jordan Panthers

Lakewood has gone 9-1 against Jordan recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Lancers will square off against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Jordan took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Lakewood, who comes in off a win.

Lakewood will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up seven points last Friday, then bounced right back against Cabrillo on Friday. The Lancers claimed a resounding 49-7 victory over the Jaguars. Considering the Lancers have won four contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Kade Casillas produced another solid effort throwing for 202 yards and four touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes, and also rushing for 45 yards and a pair of TDs. His passing game has become a key predictor of Lakewood's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kenny Niumatavaelu, who picked up 110 receiving yards and two scores.

Meanwhile, Jordan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were beaten by Millikan 49-10. The game was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly the Panthers struggled afterwards.

Lakewood has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 8.8 points on average over those games. As for Jordan, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Everything came up roses for Lakewood against Jordan when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 56-6 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Panthers' Marcus Williams, who rushed for 175 yards while picking up 8.8 yards per carry.
