Volleyball Game Preview: Fillmore Central Panthers vs. Raymond Central Mustangs

Fillmore Central is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Monday. They will square off against the Raymond Central Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Thursday, Fillmore Central beat Wilber-Clatonia 3-1. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Wolverines: they've now won four in a row.

Fillmore Central had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 14-25, 25-22, 25-16, 25-21.

Ashlynn Childs had an outrageously good game as she had 28 digs and two aces. Those 28 digs gave her a new career-high.

Childs wasn't the only good servers: Fillmore Central was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. The Panthers are a perfect 5-0 when they serve at least ten aces.

Meanwhile, Raymond Central was able to grind out a solid win over Conestoga on Thursday, taking the game 3-1.

The final score came out to 25-18, 25-22, 21-25, 25-16.

Raymond Central's victory bumped their record up to 16-13. As for Fillmore Central, their win bumped their record up to 12-18.

Fillmore Central couldn't quite get it done against Raymond Central when the teams last played back in September of 2023 as they fell 2-0. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
