Basketball Recap: Veritas Prep Falls to Lincoln Prep in First Game of Season

Veritas Prep kicked off their season on the road on Tuesday and hit a couple of potholes. They came up short against the Lincoln Prep Lightning, falling 44-22. If the Falcons were looking for revenge after losing 47-27 to the Lightning when the teams met back in January, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Lincoln Prep was led to victory by Mattie Droeg and Hayden Rendell. Droeg dropped a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Rendell dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten boards. Those 12 rebounds gave Droeg a new career-high. Samantha Morris was another key player, putting up 12 points and three steals.

The victory (which was Lincoln Prep's third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Looking ahead, Veritas Prep will square off against St. John Paul II Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on December 4. As for Lincoln Prep, they will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge Vista Grande at 2:40 p.m. on Friday.
