Softball Recap: Clifton Now 3-1 over Last Four Games

Clifton's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Sunday. They never let the St. Dominic Academy Blue Devils get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by seven runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Sydney Reeb's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Andrea Cedeno was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Casey Mullen, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Clifton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Clifton has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for St. Dominic Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-5.

Looking ahead, Clifton will challenge Eastside at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Dominic Academy, they will take on Ferris at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Blue Devils will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
