Preview: West Lincoln Rebels vs. Bandys Trojans
West Lincoln has enjoyed the comforts of home their last five games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Bandys Trojans at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully West Lincoln focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
West Lincoln suffered their biggest loss since December 15, 2023 on Tuesday. Their rough 61-38 defeat to Lincolnton might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, West Lincoln can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 513th, while Lincolnton is ranked 74th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Mikalister Anderson, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and five steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gideon Allen, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, even though Bunker Hill scored an imposing 57 points on Tuesday, Bandys still came out on top. Bandys walked away with a 68-57 win over Bunker Hill. The win was just what Bandys needed coming off of a 80-50 defeat in their prior match.
West Lincoln's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Bandys, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.
West Lincoln was dealt a bruising 78-47 defeat at the hands of Bandys when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can West Lincoln avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
