Baseball Recap: Kankakee Valley Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Kankakee Valley ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lowell Red Devils, sneaking past 3-2. The victory was nothing new for the Kougars as they're now sitting on four straight.

Dylan Wireman tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Rowan Kenning, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Kankakee Valley's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is undefeated (and 8-9-1 when he doesn't). Declan Murr was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Kankakee Valley's record is now 11-9-1. As for Lowell, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-11-1.

Looking ahead, Kankakee Valley will face off against Washington Township at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lowell, they will challenge La Porte at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
