Basketball Recap: Hattie Boone's Big Game Can't Quite Lead R.J. Reynolds over Mount Tabor

R.J. Reynolds played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 69-43 to the Mount Tabor Spartans. The defeat continues a trend for the Demons in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now lost three in a row.

Several Demons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hattie Boone, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards. Evie Beale was another key player, putting up nine points.

Shaymiah Bailey was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 13 rebounds for Mount Tabor. Bailey is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last 11 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Amani Morris, who posted ten points and five steals.

R.J. Reynolds' loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Mount Tabor, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-11.

R.J. Reynolds has already played their next contest (against Parkland), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Mount Tabor will square off against East Forsyth at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Forsyth is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.3 points per game this season.
