Football Preview: McClatchy Lions vs. Antelope Titans

The McClatchy Lions will take on the Antelope Titans at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Antelope took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on McClatchy, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with nine losses in a row dating back to last season, McClatchy finally turned things around against Kennedy on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Cougars 38-0 on the road. The Lions' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Jeremiah Giles was a one-man wrecking crew for McClatchy as he rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. The dominant performance gave Giles a new career-high in rushing yards. Another rusher making a difference was Sammy Hernandez-Hartman, who gained 80 total yards and two touchdowns.

McClatchy's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Aaron "Kiko" Brambilia. Another thorn in Kennedy's side was Austin Aten, who picked up a sack and made seven total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Antelope was not able to break out of their rough patch last Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against Placer, falling 55-22. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 586th, while the Hillmen are ranked 108th).

Antelope's loss came about despite a quality game from Richie Graham, who rushed for 49 yards and a touchdown, and also caught a touchdown. Jaymo Shakur also helped out with an impressive 96 receiving yards.

McClatchy's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Antelope, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
