Softball Recap: Cypress Falls Eagles vs. Jersey Village Falcons
If Cypress Falls was riding high fresh off their 22-12 takedown of Northbrook last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cypress Falls Eagles took a 16-11 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jersey Village Falcons on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Falcons: they've now lost four in a row.
Aubrey Leblanc made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Sofia Gutierrez, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Even though they lost, Cypress Falls was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. This was only their first loss (out of five games) when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Cypress Falls' loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Jersey Village, with the win, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cypress Falls will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Stratford at 6:00 p.m. on March 18th. Stratford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Jersey Village, they will square off against Waller at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Jersey Village is facing Waller at the right time seeing as Waller is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
