Flag Football Game Preview: Marina Mariners vs. Pajaro Valley Grizzlies

The Marina Mariners will venture away from home to face off against the Pajaro Valley Grizzlies at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marina's offense hasn't had much luck over their past three games, but Tuesday's matchup will give them a chance to turn things around.

Marina took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They managed a 12-6 victory over North Salinas.

Esmeralda Torres had an outrageously good game as she rushed for 114 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries. She was even better on defense, picking up three sacks, making seven total tackles (4.0 for loss), and defending one pass.

Another reason for the win was Marina's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Torres was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up three herself.

Meanwhile, Pajaro Valley strolled past Soledad with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 25-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Grizzlies.

Marina's record is now 6-4. As for Pajaro Valley, their record now sits at 7-2.

Marina was dealt a bruising 39-0 defeat at the hands of Pajaro Valley when the teams last played back in September. Can the Mariners avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
