Baseball Recap: Harrison Takes a Loss

Harrison extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 4-11 in the process. They came up short against the Mesa Ridge Grizzlies, falling 12-1. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Grizzlies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Mesa Ridge, their record now sits at 6-10. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the contest before.

For Mesa Ridge's part, Gabriel Montijo was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Montijo has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Mesa Ridge let Ozcar Walker and Zander Iwanski run wild. Walker went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while Iwanski went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. Walker is becoming a predictor of Mesa Ridge's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 3-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Brandon Bittner, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs.

While Harrison had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
