Football Recap: Mt. Vernon Rams vs. Marion Wildcats
Mt. Vernon lost against Marion back in September of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mt. Vernon Rams fell just short of the Marion Wildcats by a score of 37-34. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (31), the Rams still had to take the loss.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marion to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ryian Calonne, who rushed for 92 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Niemeyer, who rushed for 63 yards and two touchdowns.
Mt. Vernon now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Marion, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Mt. Vernon will challenge Collinsville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Marion, they will be playing at home against Lighthouse Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Marion's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
