Basketball Game Preview: Leonard Tigers vs. Pottsboro Cardinals

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Leonard Tigers take on the Pottsboro Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday... Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Leonard took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Blue Ridge with a sharp 62-42 victory. Given Leonard's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 632nd, while Blue Ridge is ranked 1301st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Pottsboro waltzed into their contest on Friday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. They were the clear victor by a 69-43 margin over the Tigers. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Leonard is also on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Pottsboro, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-7.

Leonard couldn't quite finish off Pottsboro in their previous matchup back in January and fell 63-60. Can Leonard avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
