Peyton is 7-1 against Colorado Springs Christian since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Panthers will welcome the Lions at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Peyton has four straight victories, Colorado Springs Christian has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Peyton barely beat Crowley County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers put the hurt on the Chargers with a sharp 11-4 win on Wednesday. Considering the Panthers have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Noah Martin made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Peyton got a massive performance out of Nathaniel Hall, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was Hall's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Bryce Love, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Colorado Springs Christian came up short against Rye on Wednesday, falling 16-4.
Ben Garl made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Austin Leigh was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Colorado Springs Christian's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Peyton, their victory bumped their record up to 11-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Peyton has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Colorado Springs Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Peyton took their win against Colorado Springs Christian in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 12-2 score. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
