Soccer Game Preview: Atkinson County vs. Irwin County

Atkinson County is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Thursday. They will venture away from home to square off against the Irwin County Indians at 4:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty goal totals in their previous games.

While Atkinson County fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Tuesday's season opener. They were the clear victors by a 4-1 margin over Fitzgerald last Tuesday. Ingrid Delgado was a massive factor in the win as she booted in three goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Irwin County kept a clean sheet against Lanier County on Tuesday. They blew past the Bulldogs 10-0. Irwin County haven't had any issues with Lanier County recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Atkinson County might still be hurting after the 8-0 loss they got from Irwin County in their previous matchup back in March of 2025. Can the Rebels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
