Preview: Atkinson County Rebels vs. Jeff Davis Yellowjackets
The Atkinson County Rebels's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Jeff Davis Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. on December 8th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Atkinson County has not done well against Berrien recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Atkinson County walked away with a 69-57 win over Berrien. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Atkinson County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ja'Kari Northcutt led the charge by scoring 22 points. Kamari Moore was another key contributor, scoring 21 points.
Meanwhile, Jeff Davis' five-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Wheeler County 49-10 on the road. The victory was just what Jeff Davis needed coming off of a 66-10 defeat in their prior match.
Brantley County's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while Atkinson County's defeat dropped theirs to 2-2.
Atkinson County came up short against Jeff Davis when the teams last played back in December of 2015, falling 65-56. Can Atkinson County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
