Recap: Phoenix Spartans vs. East St. John Wildcats
The Phoenix Spartans pushed their score all the way to 55 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 69-55 fall against East St. John. Phoenix has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Phoenix saw an underclassman step up: RONDELL BATTLE dropped a double-double on 36 points and ten rebounds. BATTLE scored a full 65.5% of Phoenix's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of DERVONTE ANCAR, who scored ten points.
Phoenix now has a losing record at 5-6. As for East St. John, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-6.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing West Jefferson the next time they take the court. East St. John will host West Jefferson at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Phoenix will host them at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
