Basketball Recap: East Duplin Gets the Win

East Duplin won the last time they faced South Lenoir, and Calvin Harper did his part to make sure it happened again. The East Duplin Panthers secured a 60-56 W over the South Lenoir Blue Devils on Thursday thanks in part to Harper, who went 8 for 17 en route to 23 points and six steals. He has become a key player for East Duplin: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least three steals, but 5-6 otherwise.

The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Jenkins, who posted ten points in addition to seven assists and three steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in assists.

East Duplin's win bumped their record up to 10-8. As for South Lenoir, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.

East Duplin has already played their next match, a 46-42 defeat against James Kenan on the 7th. As for South Lenoir, they will challenge North Lenoir at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (North Lenoir has three straight victories, South Lenoir has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
