Basketball Game Preview: Doral Academy Firebirds vs. True North Classical Academy Titans

The Doral Academy Firebirds will face off against the True North Classical Academy Titans at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Doral Academy beat Palmer Trinity 51-42. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Firebirds.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask True North Classical Academy). They claimed a resounding 89-57 win over Cathedral Prep. Winning may never get old, but the Titans sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Doral Academy better keep an eye on Cj Gonzalez. He was instrumental in True North Classical Academy's win, going 5 for 11 on his way to 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals. That's the most steals Gonzalez has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Quincy Douby Jr, who went 7 for 14 on his way to 19 points.

True North Classical Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Doral Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.6 points per game. As for True North Classical Academy, their victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-9.
