Basketball Recap: Overton Drops Season-High Score on St. Patrick's

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Overton). They took down the St. Patrick's Irish 56-39 on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Overton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Daisy Ryan, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. With that strong performance, Ryan is now averaging an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game. Braelyn Florell was another key player, putting up 14 points and four steals.

Overton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 42 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

St. Patrick's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Overton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for St. Patrick's, they dropped their record down to 3-11 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Overton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 49-35 win against Bertrand on the 18th. As for St. Patrick's, they will be taking part in a tournament against Hershey at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hershey is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.9 points per game this season.
