League recap: Gordon Central scores huge upset over Ringgold

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Ringgold, who took down 134th ranked Ringgold, 27-26.

Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe extended the longest winning streak in AAA Region 5 this week by beating Adairsville, 24-17. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.

Coahulla Creek's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Hunter Williams threw for 165 yards and Michael Ward had 86 yards receiving. On the ground Cameron Burton chipped in 107 yards. Labron Kendrick helped Coahulla Creek's passing attack out by catching two balls for 31 yards.

6-foot-1 quarterback MJ Reynolds of Gordon Central is the league leader in passing yards this season with 619. He has also thrown nine touchdowns. On the ground, the Colts' Williams has rushed for 248 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Ward. The Coahulla Creek star has 12 catches for 219 yards.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Warriors take on Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe. Gordon Central has allowed 33 points this season, while the Warriors have given up 32. The Warriors allowed 26 points last week as they beat the Tigers.

North Murray moved up to 224 from 293 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 40-22 win over the Mountaineers helped the Mountaineers improve their standing.
