Basketball Recap: Avery Bell's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Caliche over Prairie

Caliche was the 49-45 winner over Prairie when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Caliche Buffaloes fell 46-39 to the Prairie Mustangs on Thursday.

Caliche's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avery Bell, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 13 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Hernandez, who posted nine points and five rebounds.

Caliche's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Prairie, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-9 record this season.

Caliche has already played their next match, a 62-49 defeat against Haxtun on the 15th. As for Prairie, they will take on Denver Jewish Day at 7:00 p.m. on February 20th.
