Softball Recap: Salem Academy Charter Comes Up Short

Salem Academy Charter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 24-8 to Cristo Rey. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Cristo Rey this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-1 back in April.

Mariah Jones was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Crismerlin Vicioso was another key player, earning one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Salem Academy Charter's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Cristo Rey, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Salem Academy Charter will challenge Boston Collegiate at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cristo Rey, they will head out to face off against Manchester Essex at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
