Football Recap: California Grizzlies vs. Granada Matadors

California put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Granada Matadors 35-10. The result was nothing new for the Grizzlies, who have now won three contests by 25 points or more so far this season.

Jhadis Luckey was his usual excellent self, rushing for 239 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 14.9 yards per carry. His longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. California also got a significant boost from Jordan Lee, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 80 yards.

California's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged three passes before it was all said and done. It was truly a group effort as Elijah Dawkins, Eli Varanini, and Jacob Stickevers picked up one apiece. Dawkins also set a new season high mark in total tackles with six.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, California was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 429 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

California's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Granada, they now have a losing record at 2-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. California is on the road again on Friday to play Livermore at 7:15 p.m. California knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Livermore likes a good challenge. As for Granada, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Dublin at 7:15 p.m. on October 18th.
