Basketball Recap: Middletown Takes a Loss

If Middletown was riding high fresh off their 71-44 takedown of Newark last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Middletown Cavaliers came up short against the St. Georges Tech Hawks on Tuesday, falling 67-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Cavaliers have suffered against the Hawks since December 13, 2016.

Joshua Obiora continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for St. Georges Tech, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 19 boards. Obiora is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Emory Womack, who posted 15 points and six assists.

Middletown's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for St. Georges Tech, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Middletown will square off against Appoquinimink at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Appoquinimink will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Middletown surely won't give up without a fight. As for St. Georges Tech, they will challenge Christiana at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. St. Georges Tech is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.8 points per game this season.
