Basketball Recap: Sandy Comes Up Short

Sandy lost to Clackamas back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Pioneers took an 89-74 bruising from the Cavaliers. While losing is never fun, the Pioneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while the Cavaliers are ranked ninth).

Sandy has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season. As for Clackamas, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Sandy will take on Barlow at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pioneers will be up against the Bruins' rather soft defense (which has allowed 62.73 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Clackamas, they will face off against Gresham at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
