Football Recap: Governor Livingston Takes a Loss

Governor Livingston played a tough contest on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the New Providence Pioneers and fell 42-7. The Highlanders haven't had much luck with the Pioneers recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Despite the defeat, Governor Livingston saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Elijah Garcia rushed for 114 yards and one score on only 11 carries.

Governor Livingston's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for New Providence, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Governor Livingston and New Providence will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Highlanders are set to square off against their familiar foe Kennedy Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, New Providence will take on rival Johnson at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
