Basketball Recap: Belpre Falls Short of Fort Frye in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Belpre can now relate to. They took a 52-35 bruising from the Fort Frye Cadets on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Golden Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Cadets are ranked 25th).

Gracie Bills and Haley Alloway certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Bills went 6-for-11 to rack up 13 points and five boards, while Alloway posted 15 points and six rebounds. That was a full 37.1% of Belpre's points, marking the third time in a row Bills has had more than a third of the team's points.

Belpre moved to 17-8 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.5 points on average over those games. As for Fort Frye, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 20-4.

Belpre does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fort Frye, they have already played their next contest, a 43-29 win against Harvest Prep on the 1st.
