Softball Recap: Hanover Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Hanover's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Columbia Crimson Tide. With that win, the Nighthawks brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.

Elizabeth Valentine was a standout: she scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Jaydyn Epley, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Hanover always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .833. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

With the victory, Hanover broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-4. As for Columbia, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hanover will venture away from home to take on William Penn at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Columbia, they will head out to square off against Conestoga Valley at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
