Basketball Game Preview: Hilmar Yellowjackets vs. Orestimba Warriors

The Hilmar Yellowjackets will square off against the Orestimba Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Hilmar and three for Orestimba.

Last Wednesday, Hilmar came up short against Sonora and fell 60-52. While losing is never fun, the Yellowjackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1049th, while the Wildcats are ranked 378th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Aaron Solorio, who went 7 for 12 en route to 17 points and four steals. That's the most points he has posted since back in February of 2024. Xavier Silveira was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine assists.

Meanwhile, Orestimba played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt an 85-49 defeat at the hands of Ripon. The Warriors were down 72-36 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Hilmar's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Orestimba, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-10.

Hilmar was taken down by Orestimba 70-20 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Hilmar was down 45-16.
