Soccer Game Preview: Garfield vs. South East

Garfield is 2-8 against South East since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Bulldogs will host the Jaguars at 4:00 p.m.

Garfield managed to keep up with Bell until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Bulldogs came up short against the Eagles, falling 5-1. While losing is never fun, Garfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 591st, while Bell are ranked 75th).

Meanwhile, South East hasn't lost a match since December 11, 2025, a trend which continued in their latest game on Friday. Everything went their way against Roosevelt as they made off with a 9-1 victory. Considering South East have won 14 matchups by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Their offense was hitting Roosevelt from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Nathan Medina led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

South East has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-1-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up three goals over those ten contests. As for Garfield, they now have a losing record of 5-6-2.
