Preview: Colorado Academy Mustangs vs. Resurrection Christian Cougars
The Colorado Academy Mustangs's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Resurrection Christian Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on February 12th. Colorado Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 606 points over their last nine games.
Even though Peak to Peak scored an imposing 57 points on Thursday, Colorado Academy still came out on top. Colorado Academy took their matchup against Peak to Peak 65-57. Given Colorado Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Peak to Peak is ranked 91st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Colorado Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from River Hamm, who scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hamm has scored all season. Clyde Love was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Resurrection Christian waltzed into their match on Thursday with three straight wins but they left with four. They took down Sterling 53-35.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Resurrection Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Marcus Phillips, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. Phillips is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cade Crutcher, who scored 13 points.
Colorado Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. As for Resurrection Christian, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-2.
Fans should be in for an exciting game on Monday as both teams are among the highest scoring teams in the league right now. Colorado Academy hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 63.6 points per game. However, it's not like Resurrection Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 70.9 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Colorado Academy lost to Resurrection Christian on the road by a decisive 61-44 margin in their previous matchup back in January of 2020. Can Colorado Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
