Baseball Recap: Cottondale Takes a Loss

On Wednesday, the Cottondale Hornets came up short against the Knoxville Central Bobcats and fell 8-4. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Alex Bellamy and Carson Maloy stepped up to the plate in a big way. Bellamy scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Maloy scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Those two runs gave Maloy a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Barry Scott, who scored a run while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Cottondale's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Knoxville Central, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.

Coming up, Cottondale will take on Holmes County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Holmes County will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Cottondale surely won't give up without a fight. As for Knoxville Central, they will square off against Lincoln at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
