The Newton County Academy Generals will square off against the Laurel Christian Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Laurel Christian took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Newton County Academy, who comes in off a win.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Newton County Academy turned things around against Grace Christian on Friday. They blew past the Eagles 21-1. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Generals considering their one-run performance the match before.

Cooper Thrash and Taylor Burt made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Thrash pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Burt pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Thrash also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Newton County Academy is 3-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 1-6 otherwise. At bat, Thrash scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Burt got on base in all four of his plate appearances. That stolen base was Thrash's first of the season.
In other batting news, Newton County Academy got a massive performance out of Ty Thrash, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI. That's the most stolen bases Thrash has posted since back in March of 2024. Cooper Savell was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI.
Newton County Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Laurel Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on March 6th as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Sylva Bay Academy, falling 15-0.
Newton County Academy's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Laurel Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
Everything went Newton County Academy's way against Laurel Christian when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Newton County Academy made off with an 18-2 victory.
