Basketball Game Preview: Lynbrook Vikings vs. Fremont Firebirds

Lynbrook and Fremont are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Lynbrook Vikings will challenge the Fremont Firebirds at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lynbrook took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Alhambra by a score of 54-43. While the Vikings didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, Fremont came into Saturday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They secured a 37-32 W over Cupertino last Saturday.

Fremont's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Lynbrook, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Lynbrook came up short against Fremont in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 49-37. Can Lynbrook avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
