Softball Recap: Beau Chene Has No Trouble Against Erath

Beau Chene won the last time they faced Erath and things went their way on Thursday too. The Gators put the hurt on the Bobcats with a sharp 7-1 win. The Gators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

Laci Faul made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Faul was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, Beau Chene let Anna Bergeron and Jailah Rideau run wild. Bergeron went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI, while Rideau scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave Bergeron a new career-high. Taylor Patin was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

The victory made it two in a row for Beau Chene and bumps their season record up to 10-5. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-7 Opelousas and 8-15 Erath. As for Erath, they dropped their record down to 8-15 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Beau Chene has already played their next contest (against Opelousas), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Erath, they will face off against Delcambre at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bobcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season.
