Football Recap: Patrick County Falls Despite Big Games from Calvin Lancaster and Avone Kidd + How To Watch

Patrick County lost against Radford back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cougars fell 16-7 to the Bobcats. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 265th, while the Bobcats are ranked 99th).

Patrick County's loss came despite strong showings from Avone Kidd and Calvin Lancaster. Kidd rushed for 71 yards and one score, while Lancaster rushed for 84 yards.

Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 0.7 yards per carry. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Patrick County; they were averaging 5.3yards per carry per game earlier this season, but in their last three contests they've fallen to only 0 per game.

Patrick County is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5. As for Radford, they pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Patrick County will square off against Nelson County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will be up against the Governors' rather soft defense (which has allowed 26.83 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Radford, they will face off against Glenvar at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bobcats will need to watch out since the Highlanders have now posted at least 31 points in their last three matchups.
