Preview: Servite Friars vs. Santa Margarita Eagles
The Servite Friars will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Santa Margarita Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on October 20th. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Servite and Orange Lutheran (ranked 80 and 73 in the MaxPreps national rankings respectively) squared off in a high-profile match. Servite fell just short of Orange Lutheran by a score of 36-33.
The losing side was boosted by Quaid Carr, who rushed for 156 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Carr was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 52 yards. Another player making a difference was Leo Hannan, who threw for 232 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Santa Margarita had just enough and edged JSerra Catholic out 34-31 on Friday.
Trent Mosley had an outrageously good game as he picked up 230 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 87 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. The team also got some help courtesy of John Gazzaniga, who threw for 277 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.5 yards per attempt.
Santa Margarita's victory bumped their season record to 5-3 while Servite's loss dropped theirs to 4-4.
Servite took a serious blow against Santa Margarita in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 56-14. Thankfully for Servite, Jaxon Potter (who threw for 376 yards and five touchdowns while completing 72.4% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
