            Baseball Recap: Cranston West Falcons vs. Cumberland Clippers        
        
		
        
        
            Cranston West extended their losing streak  to three  on Friday, dropping their season record down to 5-9 in the process. They were a single  run away from ending the streak, but they lost  a   4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cumberland Clippers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Clippers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  8-3  last Tuesday.
  Logan Taylor made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  went 3-for-4 with one  run and one  RBI.
As for Cumberland, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record  this season. Those  wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 9.6 runs over those games.
On Cumberland's side,  Liam Monahan spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. Monahan has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in four consecutive appearances.
 On the hitting side,  the team  relied heavily on  Aidan Ray, who  went a perfect 3-for-3 with one  run. Those  three  hits gave  him a new career-high.  Ben Jahnz was another key player,  going 1-for-3 with two  RBI.
 We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Cranston West is set to  face off against  their familiar foe South Kingstown  at 4:15  p.m.  on Monday. Meanwhile, Cumberland will  take on  rival Lincoln  at 4:15  p.m.  on Tuesday.
