Soccer Game Preview: James Monroe vs. Spotsylvania

The James Monroe Yellow Jackets will take on the Spotsylvania Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. James Monroe's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for James Monroe's offense. They lost 3-0 to Courtland on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, James Monroe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 241st, while Courtland are ranked 76th).

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Spotsylvania and King George, and King George kept the tradition alive. The Knights fell just short of the Foxes by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. While getting shut out isn't ideal, Spotsylvania haven't been shut out since back in April.

Spotsylvania's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6-1. As for James Monroe, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10-1.

James Monroe might still be hurting after the 5-2 defeat they got from Spotsylvania in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Yellow Jackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
