Basketball Recap: Wausau East's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Friday

On Friday, the Wausau East Lumberjacks earned a 77-67 win over the Omro Foxes. Given the Lumberjacks' advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Foxes are ranked 267th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wausau East's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Omro, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wausau East won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Berlin at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday. Wausau East knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine contests -- so hopefully Berlin likes a good challenge. As for Omro, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mayville at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
