Softball Recap: Botkins Takes a Loss

After flying high against Lehman Catholic on Wednesday, Botkins came back down to earth. The Trojans fell just short of the Houston Wildcats by a score of 1-0 on Friday. The Trojans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 7-4.

Madison Loy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 21 consecutive appearances.

Botkins has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-10 record this season. As for Houston, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 16-6-1.

Botkins wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 10-7 defeat against Covington on the 18th. As for Houston, they have also already played their next contest, a 4-3 win against Northeastern on the 19th.
