Basketball Game Preview: Valwood Valiants vs. Terrell Academy Eagles

Valwood is 0-10 against Terrell Academy since January of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Valwood Valiants will head out to square off against the Terrell Academy Eagles at 6:30 p.m.

Valwood is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Tiftarea Academy and fell 51-17. The Valiants were down 49-15 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Meanwhile, Terrell Academy put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They snuck past Brookwood with a 43-38 victory. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 67th, while the Warriors are ranked 245th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Terrell Academy's win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-0. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points per game. As for Valwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.

Valwood was dealt a bruising 54-19 loss at the hands of Terrell Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Valwood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
