Freedom is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Vacaville is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Falcons will host the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Colton Vick was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Freedom is 5-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-4 otherwise. Vick was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
In other batting news, Andrew Borrego was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 1-for-3. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Caleb Emmons was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Vacaville's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Pioneer by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Bulldogs have suffered since March 18th.
Vacaville also got a good showing from Ethan Williams, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Williams has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Dom Yacovetti was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Another player making a difference was Rome Griego, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Vacaville's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 14-7. As for Freedom, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5.
