Preview: Liberty Common Eagles vs. Wellington Eagles
Liberty Common has been on the road for four straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Wellington Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Friday, things could have been worse for Liberty Common, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 54-36 loss to Highland. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Liberty Common in their matchups with Highland: they've now lost nine in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Pierce Richardson, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Max Frevert, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Wellington, who are still winless after their 11th match. They suffered a tough 63-37 loss at the hands of Estes Park on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Wellington has suffered since December 2, 2023.
Liberty Common bumped their record down to 2-9 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road. As for Wellington, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.
Everything came up roses for Liberty Common against Wellington when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 69-22 victory. Will Liberty Common repeat their success, or does Wellington have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
