Baseball Recap: Stanhope Elmore Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Stanhope Elmore walked away with it. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Theodore Bobcats on Friday.

Luke Payne spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on two hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jackson Stallworth was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

Stanhope Elmore is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a massive bump to their 21-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Theodore, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-18.

Stanhope Elmore will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bobcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
