Softball Recap: Duanesburg Beats Berne-Knox-Westerlo for Their Second Straight Victory

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Duanesburg nor Berne-Knox-Westerlo made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Eagles beat the Bulldogs by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 3-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-2 on Thursday.

Genevieve Rickert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Duanesburg's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gabby DeLeon, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Duanesburg and bumps their season record up to 9-4. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Berne-Knox-Westerlo, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-5.

Looking ahead, Duanesburg will square off against Clinton at 10:05 a.m. on Saturday. As for Berne-Knox-Westerlo, they will head out on the road to face off against Johnstown at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
