Basketball Recap: Andover Extends Winning Streak to Five

Andover waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Andover Central Jaguars by a score of 48-40. This was payback for the Trojans, who suffered a 70-51 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Andover's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Walker McClellan, who posted ten points and eight boards. Another player making a difference was Owen Allman, who went 5 for 10 en route to 12 points and five rebounds.

Andover Central lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jayden Brown, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 15 points and seven boards. Brown's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandt Stupka, who earned eight points.

Andover's record now sits at 5-2. As for Andover Central, their loss ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-2.

Andover and Andover Central should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings. Andover (ranked 60th) will meet Arkansas City (ranked 287th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Andover is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.5 points per game this season. Similarly, Andover Central will take on Haysville Campus at 7:30 p.m. on Friday up 166 places (123 vs. 289).
