Preview: Leopold Wildcats vs. Eagle Ridge Christian Eagles
Leopold has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Eagle Ridge Christian Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Bell City scored an imposing 61 points on Tuesday, Leopold still came out on top. Leopold slipped by Bell City 62-61. Leopold's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Eagle Ridge Christian ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 70-58 win over Heritage Classical Christian Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Eagle Ridge Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caleb Margrabe, who shot 6-for-8 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 30 points and ten rebounds. Margrabe set a new season high mark in blocks with three. Another player making a difference was Noah Simpson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 26 rebounds.
Leopold's victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-3. As for Eagle Ridge Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.
Leopold strolled past Eagle Ridge Christian in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 49-33. The rematch might be a little tougher for Leopold since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
